Fourth Annual Congressional Workout Attracts Bipartisan Support
(Washington, D.C.) A little Capitol Hill heat and humidity didn’t stop members of Congress from sweating it out today for the fourth annual Men’s Health Caucus Workout as part of Men’s Health Month and National Men’s Health Week (June 11-June 17).
Members from both political parties planked their way through a nearly-hour-long workout on Capitol Hill early this morning led by Congressman Markwayne Mullin (R-OK). The routine included staff and members of the Congressional Men’s Health Caucus, a bipartisan group with over 40 members led by Congressman Mullin and Congressman Donald M. Payne Jr. (D-NJ).
“It was great to celebrate Men’s Health Week today on Capitol Hill by leading our annual Men’s Health Caucus workout with members of Congress and congressional staff,” said Congressman Mullin. “An active lifestyle is paramount for living a long, healthy life and I enjoyed sharing my daily workout routine to promote the positive impact of daily exercise.”
“Members of Congress are leading by example today as they push through this workout. It’s inspiring to see members of both sides come together to spread awareness about men’s health and to recognize Men’s Health Week and Men’s Health Month,” said Ana Fadich, Vice President of Men’s Health Network.
“Diet, exercise, and regular visits to the doctor are key to maintaining good health,” said Congressman Payne Jr. “Each year, I am proud to encourage my colleagues to get out and exercise at the Congressional Workout. Healthy habits can be fun, and the Congressional Workout is a great way to get started.”
Members of Congress that joined Congressmen Mullen and Payne Jr. include:
Rep. Greg Gianforte (R-MT), Rep. Martha McSally (R-RI), Rep. Jason Smith (R-MO), Rep. James Comer (R-TN), Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI), Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ), Rep. Carlos Curbelo ( R-FL), Rep. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) ), Rep. Kathleen Rice (D-AZ), Rep. Bruce Westerman (R-AR ), Rep. Seth Moulton (D-MA).
The annual workout takes place during Men’s Health Month in June and National Men’s Health Week, an awareness period recognized by Congress in 1994.
