David Johnson is the Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Office of Regional Health Operations.  The Office of Regional Health Operations (ORHO) is responsible directing and managing the activities of the ten Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health’s (OASH) regional offices.  As one of the newest offices within OASH, ORHO was created to develop and implement regional priorities that would support and amplify the Department’s and specifically the Assistant Secretary for Health’s goals, messages, and initiatives at the state and local level.

Mr. Johnson joined the Department in 2003 within the Office of Global Health Affairs. He most recently served as the Deputy Director of the Office of Population Affairs, managing the administrative and operational functions for both the Title X and Teen Pregnancy Prevention Programs.  Mr. Johnson has served in multiple roles within the Department ranging from providing technical direction for a broad range public health programming, including programming focused on increasing access to healthcare for males across the lifespan, HIV/AIDS programming, and family planning and reproductive health care for all.

Mr. Johnson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Virginia and a Master of Public Health degree in International Health from George Washington University.

Dr. Salvatore J. Giorgianni, Jr., PharmD

Dr. Giorgianni received his Doctor and Bachelor of Pharmacy degrees from Columbia University in The City Of New York. He has extensive experience in all aspects of the practice of pharmacy and has had held faculty appointments at Columbia and Belmont Universities. He has completed a clinical practice residency at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. Dr. Giorgianni is a licensed pharmacist in his home state of New York and in Florida and holds both a general and consultant pharmacist license. In addition to his general and specialist studies in pharmacy he has completed formal training in pharmacology and the preparation and use of natural botanicals as well as pharmacogenomics and pharmaceutical compounding and medication therapy management.  He has extensive executive experience at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals in areas including medical, regulatory affairs, public policy and strategic planning.

He currently is Senior Science Advisor to the national Men’s Health Network, President of Griffon Consulting Group, Inc. and co-founder and Chair-Emeritus of the American Public Health Association caucus section on men’s health and former board member of the Columbia University School of Public Health Alumni Association, the American Osteopathic Foundation and the National Association For Continence  He is author of over 110 peer-reviewed publications and scientific presentations and is an editor/reviewer for the American Journal of Men’s Health. He is a recognized expert in comprehensive men’s health, the effect of culture, advertising and socialization on male perceptions of health and wellness and is a frequent speaker on this topic.

V. Jeffery Evans Ph.D., J.D.
Former Director of Intergenerational Research
National Institutes of Health

Dr. Evans is currently retired from NIH where he was Director of Intergenerational Research with the Demographic and Behavioral Sciences Branch of NICHD. He received a Ph.D. in Economics from Duke University through which he was cross-trained in Demography. He received a law degree from the University of Maryland. He is responsible for supervising a portfolio of research dealing with issues regarding families and children, intergenerational behavior and transactions, and socio-economic status and health.

He has been involved with the creation of large-scale projects that are targeted at specific research problems and yield public use data sets for secondary data analysis and has been instrumental in the support and co- ordination of a number of large-scale projects that relate to the topic of welfare reform and its impact on families and children. He has held leadership positions in the planning and implementation of several large initiatives that include 1) the creation of the Federal Interagency Forum for Child and Family Statistics, 2) the Fatherhood Initiative, 3) The NICHD Health Disparities Strategic Plan, 4) the NICHD intergenerational research program, 5) coordinator for the NICHD Community Child Health Network and 6) the vice chair of the NIH Community Based Participatory Research Scientific Interest Group. Currently, he is a science consultant for the Men’s health Network.

As the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health (OASH) Acting Director of the Office of Science and Medicine, Dr. States leads the Office of the Chief Medical Officer, Center for Health Policy Innovation, InnovationX Office, and has taken on a lead role in establishing the Office of Climate Change and Health Equity. He also advises and supports the Assistant Secretary for Health (ASH) and other senior OASH leadership regarding issues of national public health importance through collaboration with OASH program offices, the Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) enterprise and interagency, and external stakeholders.

Before being named to the Acting Director role, Dr. States served in the roles of permanent, acting, and deputy OASH Chief Medical Officer between October 2018 and January 2021. During his time with OASH he has been fortunate to contribute to the development or advancement of initiatives concerning health equity (health equity in innovation for aging medically underserved populations, stigma reduction in persons living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA), persons living with disabilities, persons with a history of substance use disorder, social determinants of health (Building a Healthier America initiative), and disparities reduction (Sickle Cell Disease in youth and hydroxyurea utilization, out-of-hospital cardiac arrest).

Ana N. Fadich Tomšić, MPH, CHES

Ana Fadich Tomšić serves as Vice President at Men’s Health Network (MHN) where she oversees outreach, promotion, and health education to men, boys, and their families. As a certified health educator (CHES), she develops targeted disease education awareness materials & programs on men’s health topics and leads discussions in an effort to reduce health disparities and educate the consumer.

Ana is actively sought out as a speaker and resource on men’s health issues, and sits on many advisory councils where a voice for the male patient is vital. She has been featured as an expert in many media outlets, and has presented at the FDA, Federal Government Agencies, American Public Health Association (APHA,) corporate employer sites, and conferences.

She is a contributing author for the international book “Sports-based health interventions: case studies from around the world”; journal articles such as “The Economic Burden Shouldered By Public and Private Entities as a Consequence of Health Disparities between Men and Women” published in the American Journal of Men’s Health, and also contributes to white papers such as “A Framework For Advancing The Health Of Men and Boys In America, A Position Paper Issued by the Men’s Health Braintrust.”

Within APHA’s Men’s Health Caucus, Ana serves as the Caucus Chair Emeritus, increasing the physical presence of the Men’s Health Caucus within APHA, advocating for more men’s health research.

Ana holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from Mount St. Mary’s University in Los Angeles, CA, and a Master’s of Public Health degree from the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine.
