Men’s Health Network Board Member Thomas Strickland Honored by the Community Action Partnership

WASHINGTON - Each year a Community Action Agency volunteer that has demonstrated a “significant and outstanding contribution toward accomplishing the promise of community action and is devoted to changing people’s lives” is awarded the Jayne Thomas Grassroots Volunteer Recognition Award from the Community Action Partnership.
This year, Thomas “Tank” Strickland, City of Knoxville Community Relations Director and Board Member of Men’s Health Network (MHN) has received the national award for his community advocacy. Strickland is a long time public servant and advocate for health services to benefit the working poor. He is a founding member of Knoxville’s Interfaith Health Clinic and active with Howard Circle of Friends, a senior care group for people suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and similar dementias.
"Tank has been involved with MHN for over a decade and has provided us with insightful leadership as a valued board member", explains Mike Leventhal, Executive Director of Tennessee Men's Health Network. "We were honored in 2009 to award Tank as our 'Man of the Year' due to his exceptional leadership within our agency and for his role within the community. Our entire agency is grateful for his level of service and proud of his latest accomplishment."
MHN joins in congratulating Strickland on his well earned recognition and thanks him for his selfless commitment to service in the community of Knoxville and beyond. "This is a fitting honor for a man who has devoted his life to public service," said Brandon Leonard, Director of Strategic Initiatives at MHN. "We are pleased to have Mr. Strickland as a board member and continue to be inspired by his example of community advocacy."
