Death Rates: Male and Female
Data from the "Monthly Vital Statistics Report" graphically
illustrates the state of women’s health vs. that of men.
(The "Monthly Vital Statistics" Report is published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services)
We illustrate using the death rates for "under 1", "15-24" (teens and young adults), "45-54" ("baby boomers"), and "65-74" (younger retirees). Other age groupings follow the same patterns. Women die at lower rates for every age group up to and including "85 years and older."
The March 28, 1994 issue (Vol. 42, No. 10): For the 12 month period ending with September of 1993, on an annual basis per 100,000 population, death rates among males and females were:
